The EFN Members gathered for their 107th EFN General Assembly (GA) in their usual Spring meeting in Brussels. Besides welcoming Nina Hahtela as the new EFN Vice-President, the Assembly delivered on some important EU policy topics key for nurses and nursing. The EFN members discussed EFN input to the European Pillar of Social Rights, with particular attention to Principles 6 ‘Wages’ & 16 ‘Health care’ and Principle 18 ‘Long-term Care’; the future EU development of Advanced Nursing Practice (ANP); and discussed the OECD data on the nursing workforce and the OECD work on PROMS-PREMS.

The GA was for the members an opportunity to share best practices on well-functioning “Primary Care models”, and practices led by nurses. These practices will be relevant for future development in the EU.

During the meeting, the NNAs reiterated their support the Nursing Now campaign, adding value to the nursing profession.

Nurses can lead the change in the EU, and their involvement in EU policy-making is key to make this change a success for patients and citizens!
